The Wonder of Music

I know that I can't be the only one who knows every word and beat of an old song, and then finds out that it was a number 1 hit when you were just a 1 year old. How did that happen? I certainly don't recall playing the radio way back then. I'm sure though that just like today', songs that were hits, continued to be played for years . So maybe that's how I know every word of the song "Sherry" sung by Frankie Valley. That was a number 1 hit when I was 2 years old! And isn't it incredible how a song can instantly take you back in time? Not physically, but in your mind. Music is so much a part of humanity's quest for pleasure, that I'm not sure I could imagine a world without it. From classical to death metal, we all have something we get from music. I know there are countless others, that have several favorite songs from when we were say, teenagers. The songs from that period in your life, for some reason, seem to be special to us all. And have you ever known anyone that say's, "I don't like music"? I'm sure everyone has known someone that has said that, but think of the great void that this person has by not enjoying music. When you next get a chance, put on a record....... I mean CD, of any music from when you were say 16 years old, and see if it doesn't (hopefully) take you back in time, even for just a minute or two, to when you had the world by it's tail, and just knew that you would live forever. Ah, that's the stuff! Yea, I can feel it right now, can you? Go right now, before you leave this blog, and put on one of your favorite songs from way back, and you will see that I couldn't have been more right. Go ahead, I'll wait........................................Enjoy that, life is short, and we all need something to "get us through the night". "All who joy would win, must share it-happiness was born a twin" That's a qoute from Lord Byron in the book " Don Juan ". Share the joy that you recieve from music, and maybe someone else will see or feel what you feel.
